Raising the Ceiling

(This post has nothing to do with the political ramifications of raising the debt ceiling. Nor does have to do with anything remotely political).

Eulogy for my grandfather, Carol Baker

"Dale, that’s just the way life is."

If I heard Carol Baker say that once, I heard him say it a thousand times.  I had the pleasure and the privilege for almost forty years to call him my grandpa.

Feel Something? Say Something!

We've probably all heard by now the Public Service Annoucenements that have become prevalent in this post 09/11 world that if we witness something suspicious or see some behaviour that seems out of sorts, we should report it to law enforcement.  The admonishment has come to be knows as the See Something, Say Something Campaign.

Bump in the Road

As many of you know, my maternal grandfather has had some pretty serious health issues of late.  He was diagnosed with diabetes close to a decade ago and for the last year and a half plus has been laid up on his La-Z-Boy with a stubborn diabetic sore on his foot that refused to heal.  To add to that, in recent weeks he was also told by doctors that he needed to have quadruple bypass heart surgery along with aortic valve replacement.

Deadline Drama

The battle between billionaires and millionaires lingers on.  Neither side wants to be perceived as the one that killed the Golden Goose.  Negotiations between the National Football League and the NFL Players Association over a new collective bargaining agreement have been extended.  If this overtime negotiation session fails, the biggest loser will wind up being fans like you and me.
